CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING. WAYS OF THINKING


Construction Engineering. Ways of Thinking is a course aimed for the 1st year students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Building Services. It is an introduction into Civil Engineering, treating everything there is to know about constructions in a very general way. The students are learning about the construction types realized in the technical evolution and about the structural components of constructions having different structural systems. During the course a description is made regarding the following: structural systems, structural elements, materials, creativity in constructions, building requirements, construction physics (thermal insulation, acoustic insulation, natural illumination), construction safety, ways of thinking in building design. The course is held weekly, in English, using as means the video projector, the blackboard, documentary films, scale models and software simulations.
